Dear Theresa
Extension of your request for information
Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) on 22 July 2025
to the Minister of Health, Hon Simeon Brown. The Minister is focused on putting patients first
and delivering access to timely, quality healthcare for all New Zealanders.
You requested:
“In the parliamentary question 32947 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of
Health you advised that following a change process there are 40 staff in Health NZ's
Consumer Engagement & Whanau Voice team.
Could you please confirm what date this change process was, and whether this is the
most recent change process? I understand the Employment Tribunal just ruled on a
change process involving this team.
If there is a more recent change process than the one you referred to, could you
please comment on the change this has had on the numbers in the Consumer
Engagement and Whanau Voice team.
If the numbers in this team are reducing as a result of the most recent change, could
you please advise whether there is any specialist and dedicated Consumer
Engagement and Whanau Voice staff that wil be ensuring the Code of Expectations
is met within Health NZ, and where those staff are located.”
We are writing to notify you that we are extending the timeframe for responding to your
request by five working days, to 26 August 2025. This extension is to allow time to carry out
necessary consultations.
Under section 28(3) of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review any
decisions made under this request. The Ombudsman may be contacted by email at:
[email address] or by calling 0800 802 602.
Yours sincerely
Reef Stewart
Ministerial Advisor
