Thank you for your email on 21 July 2025, asking Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora for the
following under the Of icial Information Act 1982 (the OIA):
1. The number of schools that emailed schools @ [at] health.govt.nz to with interest in
becoming covid19 vax sites
2. the names of the schools that became covid-19 vaccination sites
3. the number of covid-19 vaccine doses administered at each school
4. the number of ambulance call outs at each school for these doses
5. the number of CARM reports at each school for the covid-19 vaccines
Response
We found no emails from schools showing interest in becoming COVID-19 vaccination sites.
It is important to note that schools were not used as permanent COVID-19 vaccination sites.
Instead, COVID-19 immunisation sites at schools were part of locally organised ‘pop-up’
vaccination events. These sites were publicised locally at the time, then were stood down after
serving their purpose.
Health NZ has made reasonable efforts to locate information on which schools were involved in
those pop-up vaccination events. However, we have been unable to identify any record of the
requested information being held.
As Health NZ does not hold information on which schools were involved in these events, we do not
hold information on the number of doses administered at each school, ambulance callouts, or
CARM reports.
Accordingly, the information requested in these parts is refused under section 18(g) of the OIA, as
that information is not held by Health NZ, and we have no reason to believe it is held by another
agency subject to the OIA.
