Thank you for your email of 20 July 2025 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE)
requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following information:
1. I would like to request an organisational chart for MBIE Intelligence, In particular, the Data,
Insights and Intelligence Group and teams reporting to the Head of Intelligence position.
I do not require specific names of any staff, just position titles.
I understand similar information (change proposal) was released however I am requesting the
most up to date chart.
2. I would also like to request the remuneration information for all manager positions with in MBIE
Intelligence (Data, Insights and Intelligence) from People leader to the General Manager. (Please
include the title, the leadership tier, Bottom, Mid-point and Top of the band for each position)
We have numbered the questions in your request for ease of responding.
Question 1 – organisational chart
There has been a minor change from the change proposal information published online. As everything
else remains current at the time of writing we are refusing this part of your request under section 18(d) of
the Act as the information requested is publicly available at the following link:
www.mbie.govt.nz/dmsdocument/30036-final-decision-mbie-intelligence-re-alignment
The reporting line change since the finalisation of the MBIE Intelligence and Country Research change
process is the movement of the Technical Director Intelligence Practice and Professional Development
reporting to the General Manager, Data Insights and Intelligence from the Head of Regulatory
Intelligence.
Question 2 – pay bands for people leaders
The table below shows the pay bands for people leader positions up to General Manager level.
Pay bands V and X are covered by MBIE’s Career and Pay Progression (CAPP) framework. We have
provided the top and bottom of each band, noting that there is a multi-step progression through these
bands. Senior Manager fixed remuneration bands (20F, 21F and 20F) fall under a different framework and
we have provided the bottom (Min), mid-point (Mid) and top (Max) for each of these.
