Thank you for your request to the Department of Conservation, received on 19 July 2025 in which
you asked for:
1. I would like all correspondence, consenting materials, reports, documents, meeting minutes, file
notes, etc, you have on record regarding the proposal to develop a series of open cast
goldmines in the Bendigo Ophir - Dunstan Mountains area by Matakanui Gold / Santana
Minerals. Regardless of whether they are associated with fast track consenting or any other
process.
2. From June 27, 2025 until present day.
Your request is being considered under the Of icial Information Act 1982 (OIA).
We are in the process of collating information relevant to your request and have identified nearly
2000 pages of material that is potentially in scope and needs to be considered for release. This
information must be reviewed for relevance, followed by a manual process to collate and prepare for
release any in scope information (including the need for consultation with relevant third parties).
As such, we write to advise you that we are extending the timeframe for this response, as allowed
under section 15A(1) of the Official Information Act 1982. An extension is required to search through
a large quantity of information and meeting the original time limit would unreasonably interfere with
the operations of the Department. We require an additional 30
working days to respond. We wil
send you a response no later than 26 September 2025, earlier if possible.
You have the right, under section 28(3) of the Of icial Information Act to make a complaint to an
Ombudsman about the extension.
