Official Information Act request: Land Valuation Tribunal members
Thank you for your email of 15 July 2025, requesting under the Official Information Act 1982
(the Act), information regarding the expressions of interest sought for appointing members to
the Land Valuation Tribunal. Specifically, you have asked:
1. May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have
call for public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website.
2. Also, how many applications you have received from the public and how many
you have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of
women etc for your role.
3. How many you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed.
4. When you expect the process will concluded and how many vacancy you had this
round- 2025.
Your request has been numbered for ease of responding.
In response to question 1, calls for expressions of interest were advertised on the Ministry of
Justice (the Ministry) website. Nominations were requested by the New Zealand Institute of
Valuers. A letter was also sent by the responsible Minister to coalition members seeking
nominations.
In response to question 2, two applications have been received, one of which was via the
New Zealand Institute of Valuers network. The other application was submitted independent
of any nominating agency and came via the Ministry website.
In response to question 3, a shortlist has not yet been confirmed, and interviews have not
taken place.
In response to question 4, various factors mean it is difficult to provide a specific timeframe
of when the recruitment round may be completed, however the intention is that it will be
within the next couple of months. There are currently 8 roles that are being sought for
appointment.
