Official Information Act request dated 14 July 2025  
We refer to your email dated 14 July 2025 requesting information under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act). We have numbered your request for ease of response.  
Request: Under the OIA, please provide all emails, texts and notes if any, relating to 
the decision on not joining RNZ, NZME and STUFF in becoming a party to the 
McSkimming court case, concerning the prevention of media reporting on certain 
aspects of the matter. 
Response: Responsive information has been withheld on the basis of section 9(2)(h) 
of the Act: legal professional privilege applies. 
However,  in accordance with the Act’s principle of availability,  and to assist in 
answering your question, we note that it is a matter of public record that TVNZ has 
been part of a subsequent action by members of the media in relation to  Mr 
McSkimming. 
If you are dissatisfied with this response section 28 of the Act provides you with the 
right to make a complaint to the Ombudsman in order to seek an investigation and 
review.
