Thank you for your email of 14 July 2025 to my Of ice requesting, under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following information:

May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for public
nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. A copy of your ad as well. Also, how many applications
you have received for each of the role from the public and how many you have received from
other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for your role. How many
you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed. Also, can I request to view the
appointment letter if there is one sent to the previous appointee. I am happy for you to
remove all the personal information.’

Where indicated, I have decided to withhold some information in accordance with section
9(2)(a) of the Act, to protect privacy. I do not consider that the withholding of this information
is outweighed by public interest considerations in making the information available.
The Council member who left the Board fil ed a role that is nominated by the Association of
Consulting and Engineering (ACE). In accordance with the legislative requirements (section
50(1)(a) of the Chartered Professional Engineers Act 2002), nominations from ACE were
requested.
ACE nominated one member, David Fennell, who was subsequently shortlisted, interviewed
and appointed by the Minister. Existing member, Megan Neil , was reappointed by the
Minister.
There were no applications received from the public as there was no public application
process for either the appointment or reappointments. Subsequently, there was no
advertisement. We also did not call for nominations from nominating agencies.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
