Thank you for your email of 15 July 2025 requesting a full organisational chart of the Ministry 
for Primary Industries (MPI) and a breakdown of staff working on specific policy related 
subjects. Your request has been considered under the Of icial Information Act 1982 (OIA). 
 
You requested the following: 
 
- An organisational chart for the Ministry for Primary Industries. Not limited to senior 
management level but capturing all staff employed by the Ministry. Given issues with 
privacy, I am not requesting the names of staff just their roles/job titles. 
- A breakdown of how many staff at the Ministry are working on policy related to; a) 
sheep and beef b) forestry c) fisheries d) aquaculture e) horticulture f) apiculture g) 
dairy g) deer h) arable 
 
The information that you have requested does not currently exist in a form that can be readily 
supplied to you and would instead require MPI to initiate a project to extract, analyse and 
present the data in the form requested. Therefore, this part of your request is refused under 
section 18(g) of the OIA, as the information requested is not held by MPI, and we have no 
grounds for believing that it is held by another agency or more closely connected with the 
functions of another agency. 
   
Please note that the Ombudsman has advised that information is not considered to be held 
by an agency in instances where a request necessitates research or analysis of source data 
in order to generate fresh information in a form different from that in which the base data is 
held.  
  
However, we do have a branch-by-branch structure view for all business units and 
directorates online that was used as part of the Improving our Efficiency project – Ministry for 
Primary Industries 2024 Change Programme. This is available at
