Your Official Information Act request, reference: GOV-041407
Thank you for your email of 10 July 2025, asking for the following information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
1. The total number of active ACC claimants currently residing overseas, broken down by
country or region if available.
2. The total annual amount paid to overseas-based claimants, disaggregated by year for the
past five financial years, and further broken down by payment category (e.g. weekly
compensation, medical treatment, rehabilitation, lump sum compensation, etc.).
3. Copies of any policies, internal guidelines, or procedures that govern the management,
review, and assessment of overseas-based claimants, including how entitlements are
determined and monitored from abroad.
4. The number of medical assessments (including independent medical examinations and
reassessments) conducted overseas for ACC claimants in each of the past five financial
years. If available, please also include the associated costs and the countries in which these
assessments were carried out, including telehealth appointments to NZ based Drs for
overseas claimants.

notes and caveats for information about the data used to respond to your request. In
particular please note that the data may be inaccurate because a client's address may not be updated
to an overseas address while travelling, especially for short-term travel, and clients may have overseas
addresses on file that do not represent where the clients actually live.
