Official Information Act (OIA) request 
The Health Research Council of New Zealand (HRC) received an email from you on 3 July 
2025 requesting the following information under the Of icial Information Act, 1982 (OIA):   
Question 1: The release of recent HRC grant decisions were delayed by one month. 
Could you please confirm the reason for this delay?  
Question 2: I also request copies of any correspondence, meeting notes, or briefings 
between the Health Research Council, relevant government departments, and 
Ministers’ offices relating to funding decisions or the criteria used to assess projects 
and programmes in the 2025 funding round. 
In responding to your information request, we have applied numbers to the questions in your 
request (and as indicated above). Please find our response below.  
Question 1: The Council meeting at which funding was considered was delayed.  
Question 2: There is no correspondence, meeting notes or briefings between the HRC and 
any government departments or Ministers’ offices in relation to the funding decisions or the 
criteria used to assess applications to the recent funding round.
