Thank you for your request of 1 July 2025, to Fire and Emergency New Zealand requesting fleet
related information under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA). Thank you for your follow-up of
22 July 2025, amending your request to ask for the fol owing:
1. Please provide a document outlining expenditures regarding the National Fleet over the
last 5 years. Please break this down into, or supply the fol owing:
a. Total amount spent on purchase or procurement of appliances, by type;
b. Total amount spent on repairs of appliances, by region;
c. Total amount spent per type 3 appliance, including registration;
d. A separate document outlining any "major" repair expenses that are above
$20,000 on aerial appliances;
e. Total amount appliances have been sold, or disposed of, identified by individual
registrations and region.
This letter is to advise that Fire and Emergency needs to extend the timeframe of our response to
your request by 10 working days, pursuant to section 15A(1)(b) of the OIA, as consultations
necessary to make a decision on the request are such that a proper response to the request
cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit.
For this reason, you can expect to receive our response no later than 12 August 2025. We will
endeavour to respond sooner than this date if possible. If you no longer require this information,
please let us know.
You have the right to request an investigation and review of Fire and Emergency’s decision to
extend the timeframe by the Ombudsman. Information about how to make a complaint is
