Request under the Official Information Act 1982
Thank you for your email of 26 June 2025, requesting the following information from Unitec Institute
of Technology ǀ Te Pūkenga – New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology (Unitec):
Please provide information for general entry to the Bachelor of Medical Imaging programme at
Unitec for 2022, 2024, 2024 and 2025 entry into the programme.
1. Number of applicants
2. Number of applicants offered interviews
3. Number of seats fil ed
4. Number of applicants waitlisted then given late offers
This letter provides a formal decision on your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA).
The decision
The information you have requested is set out in the table below.
The number of places available, into Unitec’s Bachelor of Health Science (Medical Imaging), each year
varies according to the number of clinical placements available. This is determined annually by our
clinical partners and not something Unitec has direct control over. Hence, the variation in the number
of places filled per year.
It is important to note that the number of ākonga (learners) who entered the programme from the
waitlist in 2023 was highly unusual and not something Unitec would expect to recur. This was largely
due to some applicants having to decline Unitec’s offer of placement due to offers already received
at other providers (applications to multiple providers is not uncommon); and some applicants being
subsequently declined due to them not meeting the academic entry criteria.
