OIA: 1350039 – Physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech language therapists,
psychologists and other specialist support staff employed in Learning Support
Thank you for your email of 24 July 2025 to the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) requesting the
following information:
How many (in each category) physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech language
therapists, psychologists and any other specialist support staff are employed across New
Zealand in Learning Support. Please provide the information either by region or by office.
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).
We have interpreted your request as relating to Specialist Learning Support staff employed by the
Ministry only, not those employed by the Ministry of Health or directly by schools.

Table One below for a breakdown of Specialist Learning Support staff by Role Type
and Region, as at 30 June 2025.
