[FYI request #31366 email]
Dear John,
Thank you for your Official Information Act request received by WorkSafe New Zealand on 3 July
2025. Your request was for:
1.
copies of the Work safe board meeting minutes from 1 January 2024, through to 22 June
2025. I would appreciate it if the minutes could be provided in full.
2.
Additionally, if there are any related documents, reading materials, or attachments
associated with these minutes, please include those as well.
On 31 July 2025, you were advised by WorkSafe of an extension to the timeframe for response to
28 August 2025, as provided for under section 15A of the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA).
You were further advised that a large amount of information was determined to be in scope of
your request and that a substantial amount of research, assessment, and collation would be
necessary to fulfil your request. For this reason, the scope of your request was narrowed to be for
copies of meeting minutes and related agendas only and the part of your request for information
other than meeting minutes and agendas was refused under section 18(f) of the OIA –
that the
information requested cannot be made available without substantial collation or research.
The WorkSafe Board meeting minutes being released to you include references to related
documents, which you may wish to request specifically.
Information being released Please find attached the following documents.

Section 9(2)(a) - to protect the privacy of natural persons, including that of deceased natural

Section 9(2)(b)(ii) - to protect information where the making available of the information
would be likely unreasonably to prejudice the commercial position of the person who supplied
or who is the subject of the information
Section 9(2)(f)(iv) - to maintain the constitutional conventions for the time being which
protect the confidentiality of advice tendered by Ministers of the Crown and officials
Section 9(2)(h) - to maintain legal professional privilege

In making my decision, I have considered the public interest considerations in section 9(1) of the
Official Information Act.
Please note that Board meetings were not held in January 2025, March 2025 or May 2025.
