John Luke
[FYI request #31366 email] Dear John,
Thank you for your Official Information Act request received by WorkSafe New Zealand on 3 July
2025. Your request was for:
copies of the Work safe board meeting minutes from 1 January 2024, through to 22 June
2025. I would appreciate it if the minutes could be provided in full.
Additionally, if there are any related documents, reading materials, or attachments
associated with these minutes, please include those as well.
Your request
WorkSafe has identified a large amount of information that would be in scope of your request. We
believe that a substantial amount of research, assessment, and collation would be necessary to
fulfil your request and, as this would be a significant manual exercise, it would require resources to
be unreasonably diverted from our operations.
We believe that narrowing the scope of your request to be for copies of meeting minutes and the
related agendas (which include references to other related documents) would assist you in making
a further, more targeted request for specific related documents.
For this reason, we are considering refusing the part of your request for information other than
meeting minutes and agendas under section 18(f) of the Official Information Act –
that the
information requested cannot be made available without substantial collation or research. Extension of time limit
Under section 15A of the Official Information Act, we have decided to extend the time limit for
deciding on your request by an additional 20 working days because your request requires a search
through a large quantity of information before a decision can be made on your request. A decision
on your request will now be due by
28 August 2025.
If you have any questions, please contact
[email address].
You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review this decision, and further
information is available at
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz. Yours sincerely
Kelly Hanson-White
