Official Information Request – Impairment Committee

Tēnā koe John Luke,

Thank you for your email dated 22 June 2025 requesting information as follows:

I noted you have a Impairment Committee.

Can you please send me the name of current member of Impairment Committee and their term
of appointment, their pay rate. Also did they get a letter of appointment when they appoint to
the committee, if so please send me a sample letter sent to the current appointee.

What's the term of reference of this committee, please supply the term of reference if you have
one.

We have considered your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) and can advise as
follows.

The Council has changed its approach to the Impairment Committee in recent times and your request
for information has made us aware that our website requires updating.

The Impairment Committee currently has one member, who is a Consultant Clinical
Psychologist/Neuropsychologist. This individual has been part of the Council’s impairment process
since December 2019, and their agreement was renewed in 2024 with a 2026 expiry date.  The identity
of this individual is withheld under section 9(2)(a) of the Act to protect the privacy of an individual.

The fee for the individual’s services is based on $155 plus gst per hour.

The Council has been unable to locate any appointment letter and therefore your request is declined
under section 18(e) where despite reasonable efforts, the document cannot be found.

Your request for the terms of reference for the impairment committee is declined under section 18(e)
where the information requested does not exists.

If you would like to discuss this request further, please reach out to Lead Advisor – Privacy, Government
& Information via [Teaching Council request email].  You are also entitled to seek a review of this
response by the Office of the Ombudsman.  Information on how to do so is available here: How to make
