Tēnā koe T Dobbie,
Official Information Act request regarding reasoning for the removal of sunshine
hours .
I refer to your request for information under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) dated
21 June 2025 and received 28 July where you requested:
1. the reason the sunshine hours were removed from the Past Weather section of your
website from April 2023.
After consulting our forecasting and website development team, and the
Wayback Machine (a tool for viewing archived website pages) our records show
no instance of sunshine hours being presented in the Past Weather section of
our website. Please see below screenshot for reference.
As a result, we are unable to provide a reason for why sunshine hours were
removed, as we don’t reasonably believe that they ever were on our website.
Consequently, your request has been declined under section 18(g) as we do not
hold the information and have no reason to believe it is held by any other
department or agency.
If you could provide us any additional information, or a specific date/time where
this was present in the Past Weather section of our website, we would be happy
to amend our position.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this
decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
