“1. Whether the ELT considered taking a pay cut as part to accommodate the
reduced budget recently announced by government. If not, why not
2. Why the hdc office undertook renovations in the last financial year when it
was concerned about its finances
3. Cost of hdc's renovations which took place in the last financial year
4. How much hdc spent on consultancy services from 2022 to current
5. Why the corporate and cultural teams were not considered for redundancy
as part of the proposed restructure”

Questions 1 and 5
Information withheld
Please note that we have withheld the following information: proposal to
accommodate the reduced budget pursuant to section 9(2)(ba) of the Official
Information Act in order to protect information which is subject to an obligation of
confidence.
In relation to the information withheld, we are of the view that the reasons outlined
above are not outweighed by other considerations that render it desirable, in the
public interest, to make this information available.
Question 2
Before the previous Auckland office lease expired in June 2023, HDC negotiated with
the landlord to refresh the Auckland office premises, which were over 35 years old.

Interspace Commercial Holdings Ltd was contracted by the landlord to carry out the
Auckland office renovation.
Question 3
Most of the renovation cost was met by the landlord. A total of $32,139 was paid by
HDC to meet some specific requirements, including providing improved security for an
external meeting room, enhanced kitchen and conference room capacity, and a
refresh of the accessible toilet and office lighting system. The renovation was
completed at the end of October 2023. HDC negotiated a free lease period for a
temporary office between mid-August and the end of October 2023.
