Thank you for your email of 6 June 2025 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE)
requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following information:
Please provide all correspondence between the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment
(MBIE) and Transpower NZ Ltd (including, but not limited to, communications with the Chief
Executive, GM People, General Counsel & Company Secretary, Head of Health and Safety, and
Senior Principal Engineer) involving any and all matters pertaining to or associated with the
subject of COVID-19 during the period from 1 January 2021 to 30 June 2022.
On 3 July 2025 we sought clarification from you regarding the scope of your request so that we would be
able to provide a relevant response. At time of writing, we have not had a response. Therefore, I am
writing to advise you that MBIE will provide a response but needs to extend the time available to answer
your request. MBIE’s response will be sent to you no later than 8 August 2025. This is because your
request necessitates a search through a large quantity of information and meeting the original time limit
would unreasonably interfere with our operations.
If you would like to provide any further clarification or if you require any further assistance, please
contact [email address].
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of our decision to extend the
time limit. Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or
freephone 0800 802 602.
