Official Information Act request:[Luke] KB 2025 Honours list
Thank you for your Official Information Act (the Act) request received on 2 June 2025.
You requested:
Thank you for your previous reply, OIA-2024/25-0299
May I kindly ask when is the meeting decision date for KB 2025 list took place.
Also, do you have number of people turn down the honours per each list from
2020 NY list to now?
Further, how many nominations you have currently on hand for next round of
decision
Response to your request
The Honours process remains the same as that set out in our response to your requests
of 27 September 2024, 25 October 2023 and your initial request of 31 May 2018. The
date of the last meeting of the Cabinet Appointments and Honours Committee for the
King’s Birthday Honours List 2025 was 7 April 2025.
General y, ahead of a list being announced, a smal number of proposed recipients
indicate they do not wish to be included on the list. This varies from list to list. I have
decided to withhold the exact numbers for each list under section 9(2)(a) of the Act to
protect personal privacy as it may be possible to identify individuals given the smal
numbers involved. In making my decision, in accordance with section 9(1) of the Act I
have considered whether the public interest in disclosure outweighs the need to withhold
the information, and I have concluded that it does not.
At the time of responding, the Honours Unit holds a large number of nominations for the
New Year Honours List 2026, more than 300 of which have been processed and
accepted for submission. This number wil grow as processing continues. General y, the
Honours Unit receives between 400-500 nominations per list.
You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review my decision under
section 28(3) of the Act.
