INFORMATION REQUEST
On 26 May 2025 you asked for information about University of Waikato land use. Here is our
response to your questions:
1.  Total development contributions waived, reduced etc for University of Waikato
properties within the CBD including 101 Durham Street.
There  was  no  waiver  of  development  contribution  fees.  See Attachment  One  -
BC170030  Development  Contributions  Assessment 
for  a  copy  of  the  development
contribution assessment.
2.  Any comms, documentation or advice etc regarding the ratability and land use
of 38 Selywn Street and any other planned UoW managed student
accommodation in the CBD (158 - 198 Cameron Road).

Attachment Two – Email Correspondence shows email correspondence regarding the
rateability  of  student  accommodation  managed  by  the  University  of  Waikato.
Information has been redacted as outlined below.
3.  Levels of discounted rates, benefits etc available to UoW from Bay Venues and
total expected costs of these discounts to the ratepayer per year.
Bay Venues have confirmed there are no specific University of Waikato discounted
rates. For further enquiries please contact them.

This request and the response have been considered under the LGOIMA1. Information has
been withheld as follows:
Section 7(2)(a) protect the privacy of natural persons, including that of deceased natural
persons

Section 7(2)(b) protect information where the making available of the information—
(ii)  
would be likely unreasonably to prejudice the commercial position of the
person who supplied or who is the subject of the information

Section 7(2)(c) protect information which is subject to an obligation of confidence or which
any person has been or could be compelled to provide under the authority of any enactment,
where the making available of the information—

(i)
would be likely to prejudice the supply of similar information, or information
from the same source, and it is in the public interest that such information
should continue to be supplied

(ii)  
would be likely otherwise to damage the public interest
