Re: Mil dale: Waterloo Reserve
Thank you for your email of 22 May 2025, requesting information about the development of
the new Waterloo Reserve in Mil dale. The specific details of your request and our response
are below.
I am writing to request further information regarding the development of the new
Waterloo Reserve in Milldale, currently marked with the Auckland Council sign
“Waterloo Reserve Development – Stage 1.”
The signage appears to incorporate the original plan previously shared by the
developer, Fulton Hogan, on the Milldale website. I have attached a reference image of
that plan here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/8P4oJUd9SRXKp9iY7
Could you please confirm:
1. The specific facilities being delivered in Stage 1 and what is planned for future
stages;
Al works completed to date are based on the original concept developed by Fulton Hogan.
Stage 1 includes the development of the permanent, and accessible concrete paths
connecting to the existing bridge, low seating feature walls, picnic tables and planting.
Stage 2 wil include the development of the play space and public toilet facilities. Prior to
undertaking these works the concept wil be reviewed by Auckland Council internal specialists
to ensure that the stage 2 developments align with Auckland Councils standards and levels of
service.
2. Whether there have been any changes or deviations from the original plans
shared by the developer, particularly regarding the inclusion of toilet facilities.
The original plan outlines the following proposed features:
Private Bag 92300, Auckland 1142 |

* Playgrounds and pump track
* Basketball half court with youth spil -out area
* Sheltered seating and social spaces
* Open flexible grassed areas
* Sculptured grassed mounds
* Boardwalk crossing
* Toilet facilities
The design for the stage 2 works, as outlined above, wil be reviewed by Council’s specialists,
and then the design wil be developed in accordance with their feedback. It is the intension to
deliver the list of assets as outlined above but the extent of work delivered in stage 2 wil be
guided by what the allocated budget can cover.
The decision by Auckland Council to release the information contained in this response was
made by
Taryn Crewe, General Manager - Parks and Community Facilities.
