OIA request 24/25 1117 Request for Community Funding
Thank you for your Official Information Act (Act) request received by the Department of Internal
Affairs (Department) on 20 May 2025.
You requested –
1. Any documents, reports, or internal correspondence from 1 January 2022 to present that
discuss DIA’s involvement in methamphetamine-related harm reduction, local
government coordination, or community wellbeing initiatives in Northland.
2. Details of any community funding, grants, or support provided by DIA to iwi, hapū, or
community organisations in Northland that relate to drug harm reduction, social
cohesion, or methamphetamine-specific projects.
3. Any inter-agency coordination or support provided by DIA to local authorities (e.g. Far
North District Council) in response to methamphetamine-related social harm in the
region.
On 29 May 2025 we contacted you by email to clarify question two, confirming if ‘
social cohesion’ was in relation to social harm from methamphetamines.
To date, no clarification has been received, therefore we have interpreted this part of your
request to assume that this relates to methamphetamines.
In response to your request, I can provide you with the following information.
Questions one and three
I must refuse this part of your request pursuant to section 18(g) of the Act; that the information
requested is not held by the department and the person dealing with the request has no
grounds for believing that the information is held by another organisation subject to the Act.
