Official Information Act request
Thank you for your email of 20 May 2025, requesting information about the
Ministry of Social Development’s (the Ministry) response to methamphetamine-
related harm in Te Tai Tokerau/Northland.
I have considered your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).
Please find my decision on each part of your request set out separately below.
You requested:
1. Any policy documents, internal reports, or programme evaluations from 1
January 2022 to present that discuss MSD’s role in addressing
methamphetamine harm in Northland, particularly in relation to whānau
support, social services, or employment programmes.
2. A list of any MSD-funded services or community partners in Northland that
specifically provide support for individuals or families affected by
methamphetamine use, including contract values and outcome data if
available.
3. Any inter-agency collaboration MSD has participated in to address
methamphetamine harm in Northland, including with Police, Oranga
Tamariki, Health NZ, or local iwi organisations.

Regional Souring Plan for Community Resilience
and Whānau Support (CRWS) Fund – Tranche 2 is withheld under section 9(2)(j)
of the Act to enable the Ministry to carry on, without prejudice or disadvantage,
negotiations (including commercial and industrial negotiations). The greater public
interest is in ensuring that government agencies can continue to negotiate without
prejudice.
I will be publishing this decision letter, with your personal details deleted, on the
Ministry’s website in due course.
