Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 20 May 2025. You 
requested: 
 
Please provide all information regarding investigations underway into the 
unauthorised disclosure (leak) or mishandling of information relating to Mr 
McSkimmings (in particular mishandling/unauthorised disclosure of info 
relating to objectionable material found). Including information relating to 
investigations police are undertaking to discover who and how information 
relating to Mr McSkimming made the public arena (media) - this includes 
privacy breach investigation , reviews of IT systems, and other  investigations 
as to how the information made public arena/media. 
 
As the subject of your request relates to an ongoing investigation, al  information is 
withheld pursuant to section 6(c) of the OIA where the making available of that 
information would be likely to prejudice the maintenance of the law, including the 
prevention, investigation, and detection of offences, and the right to a fair trial.  
 
Please note that as part of its commitment to openness and transparency, Police 
proactively releases some information and documents that may be of interest to the 
public. An anonymised version of this response may be publicly released on the  
New Zealand Police website.
