Thank you for your email of 18 May 2025 requesting the following information from the Ministry 
for the Environment (the Ministry) under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
•  This is to inquire if any research or trials with rodent contraceptives have been or are 
currently conducted in New Zealand to control rodent populations? 
 
I am writing to notify you that the Ministry has transferred your request in full to the Department 
of Conservation (DOC). This information is not held by the Ministry but is believed to be held 
by DOC.  
 
In these circumstances, we are required by section 14 of the Act to transfer your request. You 
will hear directly from DOC concerning your request. 
 
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of the decision to 
transfer. Information about how to make a complaint is available on the Ombudsman’s website 
at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or Freephone 0800 802 602.
