Thank you for your email of 15 May 2025 in which you request the following under the
Official Information Act 1982 (OIA):
I request all records held by MFAT regarding the May 2013 visit of Muslim
Brotherhood delegates from Egypt, including but not limited to itineraries,
delegate lists, meeting minutes, and correspondence with other agencies or
organisations.
On 13 June 2025, the timeframes for responding to your request were extended by an
additional 20 working days as responding to your request necessitates review of a large
quantity of information, and meeting the original time limit would unreasonably interfere
with the operations of the Ministry (section 15A(1)(a) of the OIA refers).
A decision has been made on your request. The information you requested is being
prepared for release and will be sent to you as soon as practicable. Thank you for your
patience while this process is completed.
Some information will be withheld under the following sections of the OIA:
•
6(a): to avoid prejudicing the security or defence of New Zealand or the
international relations of the New Zealand Government;
•
6(b)(i): to protect the passing of information from another government on a
confidential basis;
•
9(2)(a): to protect individuals’ privacy;
•
9(2)(b)(ii): to avoid prejudice to the commercial position of another party;
•
9(2)(g)(i): to protect the free and frank expression of opinions by departments and
•
9(2)(g)(ii): to protect officers and employees from improper pressure or
harassment.
One document, including it’s title, is withhold under section 9(2)(b)(ii) of the OIA to
avoid prejudice to the commercial position of another party

withholding it.

personal information removed) may be published on the Ministry website:
