OIA: 1347658 – Additional tutoring funding 2022
Thank you for your email of 12 May 2025 via the FYI website to the Ministry of Education (the
Ministry) requesting the following information:
Regarding the $17.4 million in funding announced on 14 September 2022 to provide additional
teaching and tutoring for students in years 7 to 13. Specifically:
1. A list of all schools and educational institutions that received a portion of this $17.4
million in funding.
2. The amount of funding each institution received.
3. Any criteria or guidelines used to determine the distribution of this funding.
4. Any reporting or accountability measures required of the recipients to demonstrate how
the funding was used.
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).
The Ministry needs to extend the timeframe for responding to your request, pursuant to section
15A(1)(b) of the Act, as consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are such that a
proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit. You can now expect to
receive a response to your request on or before 9 July 2025, which is an extension of 20 working
days.
You have the right to ask an Ombudsman to investigate our decision to extend the timeframe for
responding to this request, in accordance with section 28 of the Act. You can do this by writing to
