Thank you for your email of 7 May 2025 requesting the following information under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
I would like to know what kind of cameras will be installed in the new camera vans. Furthermore 
what band will these operate on and can they be picked up by radar detection devices 
 
The mobile safety camera vehicles operate Acusensus Harmony camera systems. These camera 
systems are approved under the Land Transport (Approved Vehicle Surveillance Equipment) Notice 
2025 which you can find at this link - 
https://www.legislation.govt.nz/regulation/public/2025/0055/7.0/whole.html. 
 
The mobile safety cameras operate in the K Band.  
 
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) does not hold information regarding the radar detection 
devices, nor is it part of our function to advise on their capability. I am therefore refusing this part of 
your request under section 18(g) of the Act as the information is not held by us and we do not believe 
the information to be held by, or more closely connected to, another government agency. 
 
Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision to refuse 
part of your request. The contact details for the Ombudsman can be located at

In line with NZTA policy, this response will soon be published on our website, with personal
