I am writing in relation to your email to Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities requesting 
communication from Ministers relating to the Kāinga Ora change process.  
 
The Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) requires that Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advise 
you of our decision on your request no later than 20 working days after the day we received your 
request. Unfortunately, it wil  not be possible to meet that time limit. We are therefore writing to notify 
you of an extension of the time to make our decision, under section 1 Section 15A (1) (b) of the Act, as 
consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are such that a proper response to the 
request cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit. You can expect a decision on your 
request on or before 3 July 2025, which is an additional 20 working days.  
 
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
