Background Information
Youth Parliament is organised by the Ministry of Youth Development with support from the Office of
the Clerk of the House of Representatives, and other partners across government. The 2025
programme began on Monday 28 April and wil run to Friday 29 August, with a two-day event taking
place on Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 July in the Parliamentary precinct in Wellington.
Every member of Parliament from across the country ran a process to select a young person to
represent their community, resulting in 123 Youth members of Parliament (Youth MPs) for the 2025
programme, and 20 Youth Press Gal ery members. The information provided in response to this
request is based on the demographic information the Youth MPs provided in their registration forms.
