I am pleased to confirm your appointment as a member to the Board of Te Mātāwai, pursuant
to section 20 of Te Ture mō Te Reo Māori 2016 (
Act).
Your appointment is for a three-year term, commencing on 19 Poutū-te-rangi 2025 and ending
on 18 Poutū-te-rangi 2028, unless ended earlier or extended under the process and approval
requirements set out in the Act.
Te Mātāwai has a critical role in achieving the objectives outlined in the Act and within Te
Whare o te Reo Mauriora. Your collective and individual duties are set out in the Act. This can
be accessed online at http://www.legislation.govt.nz.
For your service on the Board, you will receive remuneration of up to a maximum of $22,470
per annum. This is a part-time role, and the expected days of working will be determined in
consultation with Te Mātāwai to ensure alignment with governance responsibilities and
operational needs.
As a member of the Board of Te Mātāwai, you will contribute to the integrity and accountability
of the public sector. While the Code of Conduct (
Code) issued by the Public Service
Commissioner applies specifically to Crown entity board members, its principles serve as a
valuable guide for ethical governance and public service, aligning with the broader
under the Official Information Act 1982

statutory
entities.
