Tēnā koe Harwood
I write following your recent Ombudsman complaint regarding the delay in Police
responding to your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) requests IR-01-25-14691 received
on 21 April 2025.
I recognise that the information you requested is important to you and that Police’s delay
in responding must be very frustrating. Police receives a very large number of requests
and in addition significant internal consultation was required to determine how to provide
the information that would be most useful to you. However, I acknowledge that this does
not excuse Police’s failure to respond within the legislated timeframe. Police sincerely
apologises to you for this failure.
A response to your request is at the final stages of Police’s internal review process and
we are endeavouring to provide you a response as soon as practicable. Police again
apologises to you for the delay in responding to the request, and for the frustration this
has caused.
Yours sincerely
