OIA: 1348203 – Counselling in Schools Programme in Te Tai Tokerau 
Thank you for your email of 20 May 2025 to the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) requesting the 
following information:  
- A list of all non-governmental organisations (NGOs) currently contracted to deliver the Awhi Mai 
Awhi Atu - Counselling in Schools programme in Te Tai Tokerau. 
 
For each organisation: 

- The total value of the contract in the current financial year. 
- The number of schools or students each is contracted to serve. 
- A copy of the most recent audit, evaluation, or review conducted by the Ministry or any third party 
for that provider, including any findings or recommendations. 
- Any internal guidance, expectations, or performance indicators used by the Ministry to monitor 
the quality and effectiveness of these NGO contracts in the region. 
- Any documentation showing how providers are selected, evaluated, or replaced under the Awhi 
Mai Awhi Atu framework. 
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). 
The Ministry needs to extend the timeframe for responding to your request, pursuant to section 
15A(1)(b) of the Act, as the consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are such 
that a proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit. You can now 
expect to receive a response to your request on or before 17 July 2025, which is an extension of 
20 working days. 
You have the right to ask an Ombudsman to investigate our decision to extend the timeframe for 
responding to this request, in accordance with section 28 of the Act. You can do this by writing to
