Official Information Act request
Thank you for your email of 15 April 2025, requesting information about the
nomination process for Social Workers Complaint and Disciplinary Tribunal.
I have considered your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).
Please find my decision on your request set out below.
1. May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you
have call for public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website for this particular
appointment round.
The recruitment process for these roles included:
• Advertising o
n www.seek.co.nz, www.jobs.govt.nz and
www.msd.govt.nz. • Seeking nominations from the Minister’s Caucus colleagues and Aotearoa
New Zealand Association of Social Workers (ANZASW).
Due to staff turnover, we cannot confirm the agencies nominations were sought
from, however our records do indicate that nominations were planned to be
sought from:
• The Minister’s Cabinet colleagues and Coalition partners.
• Te Puni Kōkiri, Ministry for Pacific Peoples, Ministry for Women, Office for
Disability Issues (now known as Ministry of Disabled People), Office of
Ethnic Communities (now known as Ministry for Ethnic Communities).
• The Treasury’s Crown Ownership Monitoring Unit.
• The Chief Executive of Oranga Tamariki.
2. A copy of your ad as well
A copy of the information that was in the advertisement has been attached as
Appendix 1.
3. Also, how many applications you have received from the public and how
many you have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or
Ministry of women etc for your role. How many you have shortlisted and
how many you have interviewed
From the recruitment process described above, we received 15 direct
applications and one nomination from an MP. No nominations were received from

agencies. Of these, two applicants were shortlisted based on their skills,
experience and qualifications. We do not have a record of interviews being held.
4. Also, can I request to view the appointment letter if there is one sent to
the appointee. I am happy for you to remove all the personal information.
The appointment letters provided to the Minister’s office to send to the
appointees are attached as
Appendix 2 and
Appendix 3. We have withheld
personal information as out of scope, noting the comment in your request that
you were happy for personal information to be redacted.
I will be publishing this decision letter, with your personal details deleted, on the
Ministry’s website in due course.
