Thank you for your request to the Department of Conservation (DOC), received on 14 April
2025, in which you asked for:
I noted, you have recently call for nomination for Te Tōpuni Kōkōrangi

May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call
for public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. A copy of your ad as well. Also, how
many applications you have received from the public and how many you have
received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for
your role. How many you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed.
Also, can I request to view the appointment letter if there is one sent to the
appointee. I am happy for you to remove all the personal information.
Also, I would like to request the term of reference of this group and job description
for it's member. The pay rate for it's member as wel .
We have considered your request under the Of icial Information Act 1982 (the OIA).
Your questions and our responses are listed below:

Advertisements were placed in the
Taranaki Daily News on 15 and 29 January 2025.
A copy of the ad is attached.
2. Also, how many applications you have received from the public and how many you
have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc
for your role.
We received 21 nominations via the public process, and none from the nominating
agencies.
3. How many you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed.
We provided the Minister with a short list of six (6) names, from which he identified
four (4) that he put forward for appointment. We did not undertake any interviews.
4. Also, can I request to view the appointment letter if there is one sent to the appointee.
This is attached, along with the declarations that appointees were required to sign.
5. Also, I would like to request the term of reference of this group and job description for
it's member.
The purpose of Te Tōpuni Kōkōrangi is twofold: firstly, to be the human face and
voice of Te Kāhui Tupua; and secondly, to perform functions in relation to Te Papa-
Kura-o-Taranaki in accordance with Te Ture Whakatupua mō Te Kāhui Tupua 2025 /
Taranaki Maunga Collective Redress Act 2025, Te Ruruku Pūtakerongo, and the
National Parks Act 1980.
6. The pay rate for it's member as well.
The board was identified as a Group 4 Level 2 body under the Cabinet Fees
Framework. Members are paid $450 per day.
