Thank you for your email of 16 May 2025 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE)
requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the fol owing information:
6. Information on policies addressing the economic and workforce implications of declining
population, including workforce shortages, immigration strategies, economic development plans, housing
availability, and related digital infrastructure improvements. (Relevant agencies: Immigration, Social
Development, Housing, Economic Development, Digital Infrastructure.)
After reviewing MBIE’s records we have been unable to locate any information in relation your request
above. MBIE is therefore refusing your request under section 18(e) of the Act, as the document al eged to
contain the information requested does not exist or, despite reasonable efforts to locate it, cannot be
found.
We are also writing advise you that parts of your request have been transferred to the following
Organisations:
• Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) -
housing availability and
Housing
• Ministry of Social Development (MSD) -
including workforce shortages
This is because the information you have requested is not held by the MBIE. Section 14(b)(i) of the Act
requires me to transfer any request where the information is not held, but is believed to be held by
