Thank you for your email of 31 March 2025 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment
(MBIE) requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following information:
Why are there so many bicycles outside the MBIE office on Stout Street today (31st March 2025)?
There seems to be many more bikes than normal, so I am curious if there is a specific bike
initiative happening?
MBIE is unable to speak on behalf of individuals and their reasons for using a bike to come into
Wellington. However, from 31 March 2025 remedial work is being carried out in the basement of Stout
Street, which includes the entry area to the bike cage and the bike cage itself. While this work is being
undertaken, the bike cage is unavailable for use. There are alternative bike parking options available for
MBIE employees during this time, but this may account for some of the increase in bike parking outside of
Stout Street.
If you wish to discuss any aspect of your request or this response, or if you require any further assistance,
please contact [email address].
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Information
about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802
602.
