Thank you for your request of 30 March 2025 to Te Kaunihera o Pōneke | Wel ington City Council (the 
Council) requesting the following information: 
 
•  I seek information on council property that has sleeping facilities and is specifically reserved 
for council staff (such as a rangers house or mayors house etc) 
 
Please provide information on this if such assets exist. 
 
Please include general location and staff department that may use the facility 
 
Your request has been considered under the Local Government Of icial Information and Meetings Act 
1987 (LGOIMA).  
 
There are currently no Council properties that are specifically reserved for Council employees. 
Historically, there have been houses and cottages on sportsgrounds for groundskeepers to stay in, 
but these facilities haven’t been in operation for some time. 
 
There are also some Council owned residential properties, however they are not specifically reserved 
for Council employees and when they are vacant, they are advertised to the open market (as wel  as 
any employees who may be interested).   
 
Te Kainga manage some of these tenancies and residential housing. Notably, Te Kainga run the 
affordable rental programme where people who meet the income threshold are eligible to rent 
available apartments. More information regarding Te Kainga is available here.
