Official Information Request – Fee and Levy

Tēnā koe Renee,

Thank you for your email dated 28 March 2025 requesting information as follows:

I would like to request a comprehensive spreadsheet of outgoings for the Teaching Council for
the three-year period of 2022-2024, identifying costs and expenditures, including for the rent of
the office space at Level 11/7 Waterloo Quay, Pipitea, Wellington, 6011, incomes and
outgoings, and what exactly it is that teacher registration fees are paying for.

We have considered your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) and can advise as
follows.

Your request is declined under section 18(d) of the Act where the information is publicly available. The
Teaching Council publishes annual reports on our website which provide comprehensive statements on
revenue and expenses.  You can find these here: Publications :: Teaching Council of Aotearoa New
Zealand

Information on the Council’s functions, which are set out in the Education and Training Act 2020, is
available on our website here: What we do :: Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand

I also encourage you to have a look at the FAQ document from our recent consultation on the fee and
levy, as this includes further information on our costs on pages 13-15.
