Dear J,
Official Information request – Medical Degree Names
I refer to your request for official information of 1 April 2025 in which you have requested the
following information:
•
Shortlisted names for the medical degree
•
Will the medical degree be called MBChB (graduate entry only) to remain in line with the other
two medical schools in New Zealand for uniformity or will it be a Masters degree and the reasons behind
it.
•
What is the rationale for the proposed name(s) of the degree?
•
Has input been sought from medical education experts on this matter?
•
If there is a shortlist of potential degree names, what are the pros and cons of each that has been considered?
