Official Information Act request
Thank you for your email of 12 March 2025 in which you requested the following under the Of icial
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
Under the provisions of the Official Information Act 1982, I am writing to request
access to all communications, in any form, regarding the appointment of Charles
Finny as Chair of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE). Please note that
this request includes any communications via any electronic apps.
On 9 April 2025 the timeframe for this response was extended to 12 May 2025.
Please find attached as
Appendix One copies of the documentation in scope of your request.
Some information has been withheld pursuant to the following sections of the Act:
• Section 9(2)(a) –
to protect the privacy of natural persons.
• Section 9(2)(ba)(i) –
to protect information which is subject to an obligation of confidence
where the making available of the information would be likely to prejudice the supply of
similar information, or information from the same source, and it is in the public interest that
such information should continue to be supplied.
• Section 9(2)(g)(i) –
to maintain the effective conduct of public affairs through the free and
frank expression of opinions by or between or to Ministers of the Crown or members of an
organisation or officers and employees of any public service agency or organisation in the
course of their duty.
Where the information has been withheld under section 9 of the Act, no public interest in releasing
the information has been identified that would override the reasons for withholding it.
