Thank you for your email on 11 March 2025, asking Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora for the 
following under the Of icial Information Act 1982 (the Act):  
“I am requesting live, or the most current data for average waiting times for routine GP 
appointments across Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch General Practices  
 
I am also requesting data on the number of patients waiting longer than a 4 weeks, 8 
weeks.”  
Response 
There is no nationally agreed definition or data set used to define or calculate GP wait times. 
Although individual PHOs may collect some information on this issue, Health NZ does not hold wait 
times for GP appointments and your request for this information is refused in full under section 
18(e) of the Act as this information does not exist.
