The information you requested - CAS-1070642-B1S2C6
Thank you for the information request dated 4 March 2025 regarding Transport Officers.
In April 2016, the Auckland Transport (AT) Board agreed to the establishment of a
multimodal Transport Officer team to work on rail, bus and ferries as part of a wider safety
improvement programme.
The purpose of Transport Of icers is to increase passenger safety and security while on the
public transport network. Along with other staff they act as a point of contact for incidents on
the rail network and at stations and wil help the New Zealand Police and transport operators
with emergency management when necessary. Transport Officers proactively manage fare
evasion through fare compliance duties such as: fare inspections, issuing infringements and
providing customer service. Our Transport Of icers work across all modes of public
transport, and throughout our facilities.
