ACC is a no-fault scheme ACC’s no-fault cover means it does not matter what you were doing when you were injured or who was
at fault. We will cover you, if the injury falls within our legislation. This definition is defined on our
website here:
https://www.acc.co.nz/im-injured/what-we-cover/injuries-we-cover. This definition
means that cover is not dependant on what clothing or equipment an individual was wearing when the
injury occurred.
Information on motorcycle related injury claims is attached
Please note that ACC can only provide information on injuries where a claim has been lodged, and not
all accidental deaths result in an ACC claim. In some cases, family of the deceased will not be aware of
support available to them under the ACC Scheme for fatal injuries. Noting the above limitations, the
information provided should be considered indicative only. When reviewing this information, please
also refer to the ‘Notes’ tab.
Claim counts fewer than four
Some values in the tables provided only indicate that the claim count is fewer than four (denoted as
<4). This limits the potential for particular individuals or matters specific to certain individuals from
being identified. This decision has been made under section 9(2)(a) of the Act. In making this decision,
we have considered the public interest in making the information available and have determined that it
does not outweigh the need to protect our clients’ privacy.
