Your Official Information Act request, reference: GOV-038177
Thank you for your request of 17 February 2025, asking for the following information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
Please supply the following for respective year's 2015 to 2024
1. Names of Peer Reviewers and their Clinical Qualification
2. Branch Medical Advisors and their Clinical Qualification
Our response
Peer reviewers
ACC does not have individuals with the job title of "peer reviewer", nor do we have staff specifically
designated as "peer reviewers." Therefore, we are refusing to provide the names and qualifications of
peer reviewers as the information does not exist. This decision has been made under section 18(e) of
the Act. However, various staff members, depending on their expertise and availability, undertake peer
review tasks for pieces of work or advice as needed.
Branch Medical Advisors The role of Branch Medical Advisor was disestablished in 2017. Therefore, the information requested
regarding Branch Medical Advisors does not exit from 2018 onwards.
We are withholding the names of Branch Medical Advisors for the period 2015 to 2017 to protect their
privacy. This decision has been made under section 9(2)(a) of the Act. In doing so, we have considered
the public interest in this historic information is low, and does not outweigh the interests being
protected.
For your information, Branch Medical Advisors were required to be registered with the Medical Council
of New Zealand and hold current Annual Practicing Certificates which they maintained by fulfilling the
Continuous Professional Development requirements of the individual professional college of which
they were active members. Their qualifications varied across a variety of medical disciplines, but these
predominantly included General Practice, Occupational Medicine and Surgery.
