Thank you for your Official Information Act (the Act) request received on 12 February
2025. You requested:
I understand there are some warrant of appointment need to be signed by the
Governor General. May I kindly request copies of most recent 10 warrant of
appointment signed by the Governor General. Happy for you to deleted any
personal information if necessary.
Also, are you able to tel me how you usual y deliver these appointments to the
appointee? by mail?
Response to your request
The Governor-General makes various warranted appointments on the advice of
specified Ministers. The Minister responsible for the appointment is responsible for the
appointment warrant. Copies of warrants are not retained by the Governor-General or
the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. I have therefore decided to release
the table below which lists the relevant appointments made by the Governor-General in
the period directly preceding your request. Should you wish to see copies of the warrants
of the appointments listed in the table, I invite you to make a request of the responsible
Minister or their department.

With regard to the delivery of warrants, the practice wil depend on the processes of each
department. On occasions where the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet is
the responsible agency, the signed warrants are delivered by hand to Ministers’ offices.
You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review my decision under
section 28(3) of the Act.
