Official Information Act request: Correspondence between Ngāi Tahu and the Prime
Minister regarding attendance of Waitangi Day celebrations
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) request, received on 11 February
2025. You requested:
“Please provide all correspondence between yourself and Ngai Tahu (and its
associated entities, e.g. the runanga that hosted) in relation to your attendance of
their Waitangi Day celebrations.
Please also provide any correspondence, notes, or briefings, in relation to your
potential attendance at Waitangi. This includes any handwritten or verbal
recordings.”
The time frame for responding to your request was extended under section 15A of the Act by
6 working days because it necessitated consultations to be undertaken before a decision
could be made on the request. Following this extension, I am now in a position to respond.
