Thank you for your request of 10 February 2025, to Fire and Emergency New Zealand, requesting
information relating to fleet cascade plans and new appliances. Your request has been considered
under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) and our response is below.
1. Could FENZ provide a Fleet cascade and replacement program for 2025 for all appliances
(no white fleet).
Fire and Emergency does not currently have a cascade and replacement program for 2025. For this
reason, this aspect of your request is refused under section 18(e) of the OIA, as the document
alleged to contain the information requested does not exist.
2. While FENZ continue replacing rural appliances with 4x4 Medium rural new builds in 2025.
What is the current status of these builds as they are believed to of stopped
manufacturing?
We do not have any 4x4 medium rural appliances on order as the previous supplier has ceased
their manufacturing.
3. Does FENZ have plans for building heavy tankers and light and heavy rural appliances
currently?
Fire and Emergency is in the process of establishing a procurement project to put in place a new
supply contract for single and crew cab rural appliances. We also plan to establish a supply
contract for large tankers but we have not yet determined a timeframe for this.
4. When does FENZ expect the last of the new MAN type 3 appliance builds to arrive and be
placed into frontline service?
The remaining new MAN Type 3 appliances are to be delivered this calendar year. The date they
will all be placed in operational service has not yet been determined.
