Thank you for your email of 27 January 2024 requesting the following information under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
Please provide further information on the proposed "Progress intersection improvements on SH1 
Hornby to improve safety and reduce delays caused by crashes.", as referred to in the 2024–27 
NLTP. 
 
For example, what intersections may be covered and with what kinds of treatments? Is NZTA 
considering a Hornby Bypass, for example via. Pound Round? 
 
The scope for this project has not yet been finalised or determined as a business case has not yet 
been started. NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) intends to start investigating this project in 
2025/26 subject to funding approvals. 
 
In line with NZTA policy, this response will soon be published on our website, with personal
